Home prices in the Central Texas and Austin area have bottomed out and are already starting to see some improvement. While we mostly saw only a decrease of 8 - 10% in our area, that decrease is already starting to recapture given our diverse economic advantages of our Austin and Texas area. Thank goodness we are unique and have not suffered anywhere near the extent that some of the other states such as Nevada, California and Florida have. A lot of the reason for that has to do with Texas's homestead lending laws, which if you want more detail, call me and I will explain, but those laws did prevent us from suffering the severe downfall as others.
